EVALUATION SERVICES
Initial Psychiatric Evaluation (60 mins)
A comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic assessment is required for all new adult patients. The assessment may involve reviewing relevant medical records or assessment reports, obtaining collateral information from specific individuals (past or current clinicians, family members, specific individuals relevant in your care, etc.). This process may require more than one session to complete. Upon completion of the assessment, the results of the assessment and all treatment recommendations will be discussed, including all risks and benefits of recommended treatments. At that time, we will mutually decide together on whether to proceed with treatment.

Psychiatric Consultation (60 mins)
A comprehensive psychiatric assessment can be obtained for any adults seeking a second opinion to gain clarity on their current psychiatric diagnosis and treatment. The assessment may require more than one session to complete and will include a thorough review of your personal history, symptoms, and history of treatments up to the present. A full discussion of the results of your diagnostic assessment, how reasonable your current or past treatments have been, along with what additional treatments may be helpful.
TREATMENT SERVICES
Medication Management
Follow Up (30 mins)
After the initial consultation and when medication may be indicated, regular follow up sessions are recommended to review your overall well-being. Medications will be reviewed for effectiveness, side effects, and overall tolerability. Any recommended changes in medications will be discussed in detail, including risks and benefits.
Psychotherapy
Individual Psychotherapy (45 mins)
Ongoing weekly or multiple times per week therapy may be recommended to help the individual better understand their own emotions, work on difficult interpersonal relationships, unpack and process difficult experiences, and find ways to reduce or tolerate feelings of distress.. A combination of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, supportive therapies are used and integrated with evaluation for the use of psychotropic medication, as well as their effectiveness, side effects, and overall tolerability if medications are already prescribed.

Psychoanalysis (45 mins, 3-5x/week)
Psychoanalysis is an intensive therapeutic treatment that offers a deep dive into the many layers of one's internal world. Analysis goes beyond the immediate problem that brings an individual into treatment and works towards untangling the complexities and underlying unconscious motivations contributing to maladaptive patterns of behavior and life-long suffering. This journey of self-exploration is an opportunity to discover the most alive and creative aspects of oneself and possibly even unearth those that have been lost or forgotten. Frequent weekly meetings are needed to build a trusted working partnership from which this self-knowledge can emerge. Analysis is a commitment to working on the most important relationship in one's life, the relationship to yourself.
***All psychoanalysis is conducted under supervision of a senior psychoanalyst as Dr. Nguyen is an Advanced Candidate in the Combined Adult & Child Psychoanalytic Training Program at the New Center for Psychoanalysis, a post-graduate training program. Inquire for more information.***
